COUNTRIES SEEK GROUPING TO HELP BOOST DEVELOPMENT IN YEMEN

SANA'A, Dec. 31 (Saba) – Four countries of Yemen's world friends and Arab sisters are seeking to form a group, Yemen's Friends Group, to promote the government's development efforts.

Sources familiar with the move said the group involves the U.S., Britain, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The main responsibility of the group would be to help boost development in Yemen, specifically in remote areas that stand in need for further development programs to reduce poverty and unemployment, the source said.

The group will also work to establish political stability and address the reasons that drive the Yemeni youth to extremism and joining terrorist gangs.

The move, nevertheless, comes to recognize the utmost efforts exerted by the government to address crucial issues and face various security and economic challenges and as evidence of international interest and contribution to ease Yemen's stress which can also overshadow the regional stability and sustainable development.
