Over 3000 people killed in Yemen by road accidents in 2009
SANA'A, Jan. 02 (Saba) -
About 3041 persons were killed due to road accidents throughout the country during
the
past year 2009 compared to 2897 deaths in 2008.
The annual statistic report issued by the General Traffic Admiration showed that
19,828 people were injured in traffic accidents last year.
The report pointed out that the number of traffic accidents in 2009 reached 15,122.
The reasons behind about 70 percent of the accidents were human errors, including
excessive speed, wrong overtaking, carelessness and not using the safety belt in
addition
to the vehicle technical faults.
