Hyundai, Kia raise sales target to combined 5.4 mln

SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's leading automaker, and
its affiliate Kia Motors Corp., said Monday that they aim to sell a combined 5.4
million units this year, up 17 percent from last year.

Hyundai Motor sold 3.1 million vehicles last year, up 10 percent, and Kia Motors
also saw its sales rise more than 9 percent to 1.53 million, driven by government
policies to boost auto demand.
Their sales targets came amid concerns that they may face unfavorable conditions
such as a stronger won and the end of government policies to spur car sales.
