Hyundai Motor's 2009 sales rise 11.6 pct to record 3.1 mln units

SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's largest automaker,
said Monday its 2009 vehicle sales rose 11.6 percent from a year ago to a record
3.1 million units.

The record 2009 sales came as Hyundai boosted its market shares in the United
States, China and other emerging markets amid incentive packages by governments
worldwide to increase demand for new cars.
Domestic sales at Hyundai jumped 23.1 percent to 702,672 units last year and
overseas sales gained 8.7 percent to 2,404,090 units, the company said in a
statement.
