Ssangyong Motor's auto sales dive 57.6 pct in 2009

SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Yonhap) -- Ssangyong Motor Co., South Korea's smallest automaker,
said Monday its auto sales in 2009 dived 57.6 percent from a year earlier as it
struggled with bankruptcy protection.

Ssangyong, which won a bankruptcy court's approval last month to proceed with its
turnaround plan, sold 34,936 units last year, compared with 82,405 units sold in
2008, the company said in a statement.
Domestic sales at Ssangyong dipped 43.3 percent to 22,189 units and exports
plunged 70.5 percent to 12,747 units last year, according to the statement.
