GM Daewoo's auto sales drop 34.4 pct in 2009

SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Yonhap) -- GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co., the South Korean unit
of General Motors Co., said Monday it sold 578,758 units last year, down 34.4
percent from the year before.
The sharp decline in 2009 sales comes as GM Daewoo is grappling with a precarious
liquidity condition as its U.S. parent emerged from bankruptcy protection in
mid-2008.
Domestic sales at GM Daewoo fell 1.4 percent last year to 114,846 units, while
exports plunged 39.4 percent to 463,912 units, the company said in a statement.
