PRESIDENT: CONDUCIVE CONDITIONS KEY TO SUCCESSFUL DEVELOPMENT

Jakarta, Jan 4 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said conducive domestic conditions are the key to the success of the country's economic development in the next five years.

"To make another success in the next five years, we must make sure that our domestic conditions are conducive to achieve it," President Yudhoyono said as he opened the first share trading session at the Jakarta Stock Exchange in 2010 here on Monday.

The efforts to create conducive conditions must be translated into real actions so that the people could take advantage of the fruits, including good infrastructure and stable prices, he said.

The government used three pillars to make economic development a success, he said.

The three pillars were development aimed at improving the people's living standards, exercise of democracy in a dignified way, and justice for all, he said.

The president further unveiled what the government would achieve in the next five years.

The government had projected the economy to grow 6.6-7 percent, poverty rate to fall from 14 percent to 8-10 percent and unemployment rate to drop from 8 percent to 5-6 percent in 2014, he said.

To that end, all parties must try to make sure that domestic condition was conducive for the economic development, he said.

He noted that Indonesia's success to be one of a few countries recording positive growth last year was also attributable to the country's relatively stable political condition, good social cohesion, manageable security condition, good law enforcement, and successful anti-graft drive.

In 2009, the Indonesia Stock Exchange was also named the best performer in Southeast Asia and the second best performer in Asia and the Pacific, he said.

Also present at the opening of the first share trading session were Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa. ***2***
