Kim Jong-il makes New Year's public appearances at industrial sites
SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Yonhap) -- North Korean leader Kim Jong-il has visited industrial sites for field guidance, the North's official news media reported Monday.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), monitored here, said Kim visited the
Jaeryong Mine in South Hwanghae Province to give field guidance.
The report, released around 6 p.m. (Seoul time), followed the news agency's
report earlier in the day that the North Korean leader has inspected Heechon
Power Station in Jakang Province.
The agency did not clarify when he made the New Year visits, but North Korea
experts here said the reports are designed to publicize Kim's will to concentrate
particularly on overcoming the ongoing economic crisis this year.
Last year, Kim's first public visit was made at the North Korean Army's 105th
Tank Division near Pyongyang.
