S. Korea named most stable country among emerging markets


NEW YORK, Jan. 5 (Yonhap) -- South Korea is the most stable country in dealing
with political shock among 24 emerging markets in the world, a monthly report
released by a global political and economic consulting firm here said Tuesday.

South Korea received 77 points, the highest in the recent Global Political Risk
Index (GPRI) issued by Eurasia Group. The GPRI is an index that measures a
country's ability to absorb political shocks or crises in four categories --
government, society, security and economy -- on a scale of zero to 100.
The survey demonstrated that Poland stood at second acquiring 76 points, followed
by Brazil with 68, South Africa 67, Russia 63 and China 62.
