SEOUL, Jan. 5 (Yonhap) -- LS Cable Ltd., South Korea's biggest wire and cable
maker, said Tuesday that it has clinched a 75.4 billion won (US$65.7 million)
order to supply ultra high voltage cables to an Australian electricity company.

The Korean company received a letter of approval from Electranet Transmission
Services Pty Ltd., which endorsed a building project to supply power cables for
the Australian company, LS Cable said in a regulatory filing.
The order calls for LS Cable to install a 275-kV cable passing under an 18
kilometer section near the Australian city of Adelaide, the South Korean company
said.
The deal is a turn-key project whereby the cable is built by a developer and sold
or turned over to a buyer in ready-to-use condition, the company added.
"The order is a large achievement as we gained an advantage over competitors from
Europe and Japan," LS Cable said in a statement.
Last year, LS Cable won orders worth 52 billion won in the Oceanian region,
including Australia and New Zealand.
