KNOC to buy stake in offshore oil field of Petronas

SEOUL, Jan. 6 (Yonhap) -- Korea National Oil Corp. (KNOC), South Korea's
state-run oil developer, said Wednesday that it plans to buy a stake in an
offshore oil field owned by Petronas, a Malaysian state-run oil and gas company.

The Korean company's board of directors has decided to acquire the stake in the
oil filed named "SB312" at a meeting held last month, it said.
"We are in talks with Petronas on the stake purchase, while the deal has yet to
be finalized," said an official at KNOC.
