$ 2 MLN FIELD HOSPITAL CONSTRUCTION IN AL-MAZARK AREA DISCUSSED
HAJJAH, Jan.07 (Saba) - Minister of Public Health and Population
Abdul-Karim Rase'a discussed on Thursday with the Organization of
the Islamic Conference (OIC)'s delegation the executive procedures
to start constructing a field hospital of 20 beds at a cost of $ 2
million in al-Marzak camp (3) for the displaced people due to the
rebellion war in Saada province.
The hospital to be built on an area of 400 square meters in Harad
district, Hajjah province, will present the health services to the
displaced in the three camps in al-Mazrak area, in addition to
establishing an educational center and a training center.
In a related context, Rase'a met here with representatives of a
number of international organizations working in the humanitarian
relief for the displaced people in Harad district to discuss the
displaced conditions in al-Mazrak area and the procedures of
finalizing construction and equipping of al-Mazrak camp (3).
The attendees affirmed the importance of enhancing cooperation and
coordination between the relief organization in the field and the
ministry and the executive unit for displaced affairs so as to meet
the needs of displaced for food and lodging, health and educational
materials.
In this respect, they approved taking a number of actions to
facilitate the field work to serve the displaced.
According to the UN mission, there are more than 160,000 IDPs due to
the recent confrontations between the army and rebels.
The Houthi rebels have been launching sporadic wars against the
troops since 2004. Thousands of people, soldiers and insurgents have
been killed in Saada province, which located close to border with
Saudi Arabia, after the rebel group was founded by rebel leader
Hussein al-Houthi.
Hussein, the eldest brother of the current group leader Abdul-Malik,
was killed by the army in September 2004.
The Yemeni government accuses the Houthi group of trying to
reinstall the rule of imams, which was toppled by a republican
revolution in northern Yemen in 1962.
