PALESTINIANS WANT A STRONG PRESSURE ON ISRAEL: AMBASSADOR
Jakarta Jan 8 (ANTARA) - Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Fariz Nafi' Atieh Mehdawi said that Palestinians want a strong pressure from the international community to stop the Israeli occupation.
"We need a very strong pressure on Israel from the international community, because our issue is an international conflict," said Mehdawi during Palestine Day at the language institute LIA Jakarta, Friday.
The international community has made it clear that they encourage the establishment of a a Palestinian country. "However, we can not declare a Palestinian state without having the device in the policy. It takes the pressure and joint effort," said Mehdawi.
According to Mehdawi, Indonesia's position is very influential in international and national capacity and as the largest Muslim country in the world.
Beside the need of assistance to give pressure to Israel, Palestinians also need all the tools for developing countries, and also requires human resources component, because there would be the necessary for building infrastructures, Mehdawi said.
According to Mehdawi, Indonesia has given one million dollars to rebuild Gaza and other forms of humanitarian assistance. "Indonesia is doing what it need to be done, and we can not ask anymore, although Indonesia always asking what else do we need," said Mehdawi.
Meanwhile, Israeli settlement construction just making things more complicated for the Palestinians, because they will not be able to build a country if there are someone else in the area, Mehdawi said.
Mehdawi said that, Israel is not serious in reaching the solution, the international community is also aware and criticized it, including the U.S. President, Barack Obama.***
