US TO DOUBLE ASSISTANCE TO YEMEN

FLORIDA, United States, Jan. 10 (Saba)- United States would double
its annual assistance to Yemen support to security and development
in Yemen, an American senior commander said on Sunday.

Gen. David Petraeus, head of U.S. Central Command told CNN that
United States plans to more than double its security assistance
funding to Yemen, from $70 million to more than $150 million.


He said that the U.S. military does not intend to put ground troops
in Yemen.

"We would always want a host nation to deal with a problem itself.
We want to help. We're providing assistance," he said.
