NATIONAL DIALOG COMMITTEE EXPANDS PARTICIPATION BASE TO 6,000 PEOPLE

SANA'A, Jan.10 (Saba) - The Shoura Council's preparatory committee
for the national dialogue conference decided on Sunday to enlarge
the participation base in the dialog by inviting 6,000 personages.

The 6 thousand personages include Yemeni revolution defenders,
politicians, parliamentarians, university professors and social
figures, writers, intellectuals, women activists, youth and civil
society organizations.

In the outset of its meeting, the committee expressed its thanks to
President Ali Abdullah Saleh for having kindly accepted the
committee's proposal to extend the period of setting up and
preparation for the conference until January 30.

In the meeting, the committee discussed the issue of expanding the
participation in the national dialog, which has required extending
the period of preparation three weeks more.

Last Wednesday, the committee for the national dialogue conference
requested President Ali Abdullah Saleh to postpone the dialog
conference date three more weeks.

Earlier, the committee announced that President Saleh approved its
request to postpone the conference for two weeks. It was scheduled
to hold the conference on 26 December, 2009.

On December 14th, Saleh sent a letter to the Shoura Council over
launching a national dialog that should gather all political and
social forces as well as civil society organizations under the
constitution and national principles.

The President Saleh's call for a comprehensive national dialogue
under the supervision of the Shoura Council aims to address all
crucial issues at the national arena.
