PT.TIMAH'S PRODUCTION REACHES 46 THOUSAND TONS

Pangkalpinang, Jan 10 (ANTARA) - The production of state tin company PT Timah Tbk in Bangka Belitung (Babel) province in 2009 reached 46 thousand tons and tin sales reached 90 thousand tons.

"Production of 46 tons and sales of 90 thousand tons are actually higher than the production, because we still have some unsold stock of the commodity," President Director of PT Timah in Babel Usman Wahid said in Pangkalpinang, Sunday.

Wahid said that the declining price of world tin caused him confusion in running the enterprise, especially how to reaise its income.

But he kept on trying to restore the glory of the company of 2007, by increasing efficiency, and the block system, which is a vast area 20 to 50 hectares surrounded by a trench.

In 2007 PT Timah gained a profit of Rp1.784 trillion, and an income of Rp 9.5 trillion, he said.

"But in 2008 it dropped Rp9 trillion, and continued to decline in 2009, but the amount yet to be determined by the company's shareholders general meeting," he said.
