TWENTY-FIVE HOUSES DAMAGED IN TASIKMALAYA QUAKE
Tasikmalaya, W Java, Jan 10 (ANTARA) - At least 25 houses were damaged after an earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale rocked Tasikmalaya district, West Java, on Sunday morning.
Five of the 25 houses were heavily damaged while the rest lightly and moderately, Cipatujah subdistrict head, Aziz said.
"The number of houses damaged in the quake is still unclear as we are still counting it," he said.
The houses were located at Sindangkerta, Padawaras, Cipanas, and Cipatujah villages in Cipatujah subdistrict, Tasikmalaya district.
"There is no report of casualties or injuries," he said.
The 5.4 magnitude quake was centered at 84 km southwest of Tasikmalaya at a depth of 14 km.
The quake did not trigger a tsunami warning but it prompted coastal residents to rush outdoors and stay away from the coast.
