(LEAD) Top local flour maker cuts prices on stronger won

(ATTN: CHANGES slug; RECASTS para 4)
SEOUL, Jan. 11 (Yonhap) -- Dongaone Co., South Korea's top flour maker, said
Monday that it will cut its flour prices starting this week, reflecting a fall in
prices of raw materials arising from the South Korean won's recent ascent against
the U.S. dollar.

Dongaone will reduce its flour prices on Tuesday by 6 to 8 percent, which will
mark the first time the company has implemented a price reduction since last
September.
Other flour makers -- CJ Jeiljedang Corp. and Daehan Flour Mill Co. -- are
expected to follow suit with Dongaone soon.
The South Korean currency gained an average of 6 percent versus the greenback in
the fourth quarter of 2009 from the previous quarter.
