PROJECT OF SUPPORTING YEMEN TO FACE CHALLENGES OF MIXED IMMIGRATION LAUNCHED



SANA'A, Jan. 12 (Saba)-A project of enhancing efforts of the Yemeni
government and civil society organizations to face challenges of
mixed immigration was launched on Tuesday at sum of € 2 million.

The project aims at strengthening capacities of Yemen to protect
national and regional security as well as protecting people who
involve in immigration.

Deputy foreign minister Ali Muthana affirmed importance of work with
the international community to support security and stability in
Somalia, saying the current situation in the African country created
a good environment for trafficking people, organized criminals,
piracy and terrorism.

He also affirmed concern of the Yemeni government to develop
cooperation with the international community to face current
challenges of mixed immigration, asking for further support for the
Yemeni efforts in facing such immigration.

Muthana highly appreciated the support of European Commission and
UNHCR to Yemen to reduce burdens on Yemen due to growing number of
refugees.

For his part, the EU ambassador to Sana'a confirmed commitment of
the union to offer assistance for the development in Yemen,
affirming importance of gathering efforts of the Yemeni government
and the international community to face challenges of immigration in
the country.

Representative of International Immigration Organization to Yemen
and director of the project reviewed efforts of the organization to
help the Yemeni government in running immigration and insuring
safety of immigrants.

They also pointed out to the objectives of the project.
