Samusung Techwin eyes 2 tln won sales in 2013
SEOUL, Jan. 13 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Techwin Co., a subsidiary of South Korea's
largest conglomerate Samsung Group, said Wednesday it will diversify its product
line-up as part of efforts to raise its sales to 2 trillion won (US$1.78 billion)
in 2013.
The target sales figure represent a more than three-fold increase from the 540
billion won recorded by the South Korean precision electronics parts maker in
2009, the company said in a statement.
To that end, Techwin will introduce new products in its camera lineup and launch
new businesses in non-security areas, while reinforcing its closed-circuit
television (CCTV) division, it added.
The global security equipment market, which includes the CCTV sector, is
projected to grow to US$20 billion in 2013 from $14.6 billion this year, the
company said.
Samsung Techwin, which took over a surveillance camera division from Samsung
Electronics Co. in October, is targeting a larger share in the global security
equipment market, which is forecast to grow at a clip of 10 percent a year.
Techwin has also supplied CCTV products for large clients in the defense sector,
though it lags behind Japanese players in the global market.
