AlL aRHABI: GOVERNMENT TO FOCUS EFFORTS IN REDUCING POVERTY IN TURAL AREAS

SANA'A, Jan. 13 (Saba)-Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs
and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul Kareem
al-Arhabi said that poverty eradication in rural regions is one of
key priorities of the government in coming period.

In the opening session for a workshop of preparing for fourth
five-year plan 2011-2014, al-Arhabi revealed a program which is
first of its kind to reduce poverty in the rural regions by
improving capacities of framers in the regions.

He added that the impacts of the financial and food crises and
dispersion of population gatherings are main challenges that face
the efforts of government to reduce poverty in these regions.

73 percent of the Yemeni population is living in rural regions which
require further efforts by the government to improve living standard
of the population, he said.
