OIC Secretary General to address UN Security Council
New York, January 13, 2010, SPA -- The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, currently on a visit to New York, will attend the United Nations Security Council’s thematic debate on conflict prevention and mediation, called by China, President of the current session of the Security Council.
During his three-day visit, the Secretary General is scheduled to address the
Security Council. In his address, Ihsanoglu is expected to highlight the
important role of regional and international organizations in preventive
diplomacy, peacekeeping, and global peace building and how to counter terrorism
using peaceful means, according to a latest press release of the OIC on its
web-site.
