TEHRAN, May 01 (MNA) – The Dome of Soltaniyeh is a magnificent turquoise-brick dome located in Zanjan, Iran. It is considered a significant monument in the history of Islamic architecture and is the oldest double-shell dome in the world.

The Dome of Soltaniyeh is known to be the third most famous dome in the world in terms of height, after the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, Italy, and the Hagia Sophia mosque in Istanbul, Turkey.

It was registered on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2005.

Playing polo at Isfahan’s Naqsh-e Jahan Square

TEHRAN, Apr. 30 (MNA) – The UNESCO World Heritage site Naghsh-e Jahan Square in Isfahan, Iran, hosted a symbolic game of polo (also known as Chogan).

Chogan was first played in Iran at dates given from the 4th century in Persian Emperor Shapur II of the Sassanid dynasty era. From Persia, in medieval times, polo spread to other countries and it is now played around the world.
